Qualifier quashes Federers hopes


Little known Argentinan qualifier Federico Delbonis dream run at the German open has continued with a shock semi final win against number 1 seed Rodger Federer. Delbonis held strong and match Federer point by point during most of the match. Impressively Delbonis won 82% of first serves and 69% of second in a triumphant 76 76 victory to his first ever ATP final. Federer who isn't at his best performance at the moment and getting use to a new racquet (but these are no excuses for his loss) was simply outplayed on the important points in the match.

So who is Federico Delbonis?

Current ranking - 114 (ch 98 APR 2013)
Age - 22
Titles - 5 (two of which was challengers this year in Burcaramanga and Barranquilla)

Up next in the final is the inform Fabio Fognini who won his first ever ATP title last week. Fognini defeated third seed Nicolas Almagro 64 76.
